The Microbiology Department in ASRAM Medical College,Eluru has been showing consistent performance in maintaining high standards of patient care & quality diagnosis in fields of Bacteriology, Parasitology, Serology,Mycology,Mycobacteriology etc.Since 18 years and also performing high standards of teaching to postgraduate i.e. MD (Micro) & under graduate MBBS & Paramedical courses B.sc (MLT) & DMLT, B.sc (Nursing).

The teaching has been conducted by Eminent Professors & Faculty members for MBBS & MD courses in Microbiology. The Department was recognised by Medical Council of India, New Delhi since 2000 for UG teaching and since 2010 for PG teaching.

So far 9 (Nine) MD Degrees were awarded by the dept under Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Vijayawada. Out of 9, One PG got gold medal for her excellent performance in the examinations and other PGs got distinctions.

The regular annual passing percentage in II MBBS course Microbiology is around 98% with the good teaching and guidance of senior and well experienced faculty members, that leads ASRAM Institution to be one of the best in A.P.

This Dept presented & published scientific research papers in State & National Conferences and Indexed journals. This Dept has had the honour of hosting the state IAMM conference during 2005.

At ASRAM Hospital in the central Laboratories 24 Hours Laboratory services being performed for the diagnosis of HIV, HBV, HCV Typhoid, Malaria,Dengue,etc under the supervision of eminent faculty of this Department.Our technicians are maintaining high standards of skill and are trained regularly by in-house as well as known faculty from other colleges.Our faculty members are interested in diagnostics and hence have taken ISO15189 training for NABL at this college.

This Microbiology department (2017th December) recently has been recognised by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Laboratories) which was achieved in a very short period of time.

Further, Dengue, Chikungunya ELISA testing is being done for West Godavari District at our centre has been functioning since 7 years and testing is being done by Collaboration with National institute of Virology,Pune, India.

Now, we are also going for NABH accreditation for ASRAM Hospital and doing all that is necessary,including periodic surveillance of infection control in various OTs ,Wards,ICUs etc.

Our faculty members have been trained in advanced course of medical education at higher centers in the country and basic course workshops at regional centers regularly.
